COUNTER GUIDE
How to play
Learn the fishing words, then see how many you can type before the next tray rolls in.
Back to the tackle shopYour first catch
- Choose a course and select Start Fishing. On a phone, the game starts with 10-word practice.
- Type the English word below the green tray. The brown tray is a preview; there is only one word to type.
- Correct letters stay highlighted. When you finish the word, the next tray becomes your target.
Use an English keyboard. Uppercase and lowercase both work, and spaces are part of phrases such as soft plastic. A wrong key does not enter the word, so you can continue without Backspace. Japanese IME composition, pasted text and held-key repeats do not score.
Choose a course
| Course | Pace | Records |
|---|---|---|
| PC 60-second challenge | Fixed word order, starting with short terms. Each tray has its own time limit. | Local best; optional online Top 20 after an eligible round. |
| Untimed practice | No course or tray timer. Select Finish when you are done. | Local best only, separated by device and mode. |
| 10-word mobile practice | No timer. Ends after 10 completed words. | Mobile local best only. No online ranking. |
The ranked challenge is intended for a PC keyboard. Small screens and touch devices use practice because software keyboards change the pace and available space. This game has 36 terms; the common course loops through the same list.
Points and accuracy
- Each correct character earns +10. Each wrong character costs 5. The running score never goes below zero.
- Correct characters earn points immediately, even if you do not finish a word. A missed tray keeps those partial points and moves on; it does not end the course early.
- Longer words get more tray time. For example, rod has 6.1 seconds and largemouth bass has 14.5 seconds.
- Accuracy is correct characters divided by correct plus wrong characters, rounded to a percentage. If you have made no attempts, it is 0%.
- Combo counts consecutive completed words. It is a visual reward and does not multiply points. A wrong key or missed tray resets it.
Pause, sound and replay
Select Pause or press Esc to take a break. Leaving the game or hiding the tab pauses a running round automatically. The timer and current word stop while paused. Resume keeps your progress; New round starts from zero. Finish ends the round manually.
A paused or interrupted round still has a local result, but cannot be submitted online. BGM and sound effects have separate controls; audio starts only after an interaction. Use Music to lower the BGM volume. Reduced-motion settings are respected.
How the online ranking works
Online submission is optional. Complete the full 60-second PC course without pausing or losing focus, and type at least one correct character. Enter a 2–20-character nickname, agree to publish it with your score and accuracy, then select Submit Score. Use a nickname, not your real name.
- The Top 20 shows one best result per browser identifier and course. A new result replaces it only if the score is higher, or the same score has better accuracy.
- Ties are ordered by accuracy, then the earlier result, then the internal browser identifier for an exact tie.
- Wait at least 60 seconds between accepted submissions. Network retries with the same submission ID do not create another entry.
- Nicknames are unverified. Two players can use the same nickname; clearing browser storage or using another browser creates a separate identity.
Scores are checked for supported numeric bounds, but this browser game is not a verified competition. There are no accounts, prizes or identity checks. An unavailable ranking service does not stop the game or its local records. Read Privacy & data before sharing a result.

Learn before the next round
Match each word to its tackle illustration and Japanese meaning in the 36-term fishing glossary. Try saying a phrase like “cast a spinnerbait” before typing it.
